International holiday Work-Camp experience with the CVJM Bayern In our project ,,GlobalCastle"

 

What is GlobalCastle?
... The international youth exchange program GlobalCastle is a nonacademic education-level school that encourages, inspires, and equips around 1,000 youth aged 13 to 21 annually.

 

Working abroad enriches every young adult’s horizon because their life will be intrinsically motivated by the diverse life possibilities and the vibrant mix of cultures they encounter. GlobalCastle, holding 12 intercultural education camps annually, is exciting to provide a multicultural working platform for every young adult who seeks international explorations and internal spiritual growth. 


Young adults with great potential like you might hesitate to say yes to us because of your other exciting offers and the language barrier. Please don’t! It is indeed an international internship but also a learning opportunity to invest in improving yourself gaining self-confidence, efficacy, and faith.


Plus, with your unique stories and cultures, you are the “Youth exchange light” we need. A local camp in Germany with inspiring international staff and the multicultural environment you created will motivate and prepare the local young campers to step abroad and initiate their global impact!

 

 

How will you impact the local campers? 

"GlobalCastle Language Camp" is not an academic language camp. We aim to create a fun English-speaking environment that familiarizes campers with everyday colloquial English and reduces their fear of expressing themselves in a foreign language. You will help to develop practical and true-to-life English environments with informal pedagogic methods, such as sports, music, arts and crafts, games, cooking, etc. 


You are an expert in your culture, and the camps will be your platform to share and inspire. Through creative cultural events that you help to design, you will build an intercultural understanding in GlobalCastle. You will educate the camp community to thrive in this globalized world with an open-minded heart. What’s more impressive is that if you inspire the youth to do a similar global exchange project in your country, your local community will also benefit! 


It will be a bonus if you also look forward to growing your Christian faith with us. We are excited to hear from you in our regular devotion, worship, and testimony sharing! For example, a special highlight of GlobalCastle camps is our daily morning Language Laboratories, where the international staff share their stories, faith connections with Jesus, or testimonies in English. In interreligious dialogues and workshops, GlobalCastle, as a camp together, learns, asks questions, and reflects on our lives for Christian love sharing and faith enrichment. 


You are not alone. Each GlobalCastle camp, with around 85 campers divided into four cell groups, will be carried by two full-time YMCA staff, 20 international volunteers, and school teachers/trainers.

About us …

The “YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) Landesverband Bayern e.V.” established in 1903, was the merger of 105 YMCA associations in Bavaria. With the support of 4,150 volunteers and a membership of 12,500 individuals, the organization operates under the “Paris base” of the worldwide YMCA that mandates credible living and proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. 


The organization is dedicated to various activities, such as pedagogical-theological accompaniment of the local YMCAs and the personal accompaniment of individual members, educational programs, and diverse youth welfare. In addition, it offers a wide diversity of interest groups, including sporting, musical, cultural exchange, and creative events. The YMCA Landesverband Bayern e.V. is interconnected with the global YMCA community, spanning 120 countries and comprising 65 million members. Furthermore, it collaborates with the German YMCA, consisting of 310,000 members across 1,400 associations. The YMCA state association is an active member of the Bavarian Youth Council via the Evangelical Youth in Bavaria.

General conditions:

  • There are 12 one-week camps held annually, divided between the winter and summer seasons.
  • You can apply for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of all 12 weeks. Camp weeks are shown below.
  • If you plan to stay longer, you can use the "no camp weeks" for traveling and resting.
  • In your application, please specify the exact weeks (or date range) you want to apply.

Where is GlobalCastle?

You will be living and working in our YMCA castle, “Wernfels," located in a village called Wernfels near the Franconian lake district in Bavaria, near Nuremberg. Around 15-20 working campers/volunteers will share the fun working and living experience together.


What about the financial support?

YMCA Bavaria will cover your accommodation and food during the camps. Depending on your location and individual needs, we will cover your travel costs (a flight or train) and provide pocket money accordingly. 


Who can apply?

If you have a very safe English language handling, are an English native speaker, are older than 18, and are passionate about serving young people with a Jesus-centered motivation, you might be the right fit for the GlobalCastle project!
